The GetKnit team wants to get you outside and exploring everything this region has to offer this summer! Join us on this exploration as we enjoy a canoeing day trip down the pristine St. Croix River, with a scrumptious lunch along the banks, followed by a celebratory visit to one of the valley’s newest and most beautiful wineries…where we’ll enjoy a wine tasting flight, afternoon snacks, a behind-the-scenes tour, and free time to enjoy the beautiful views of the river valley.
On select Saturdays and Sundays this summer we will begin our day in Roseville, where you’ll be greeted by your Local ‘GetKnit’ Gurus who’ll be your guides throughout the day. We’ve taken care of all the planning – so you can sit back and relax. After you’ve checked in you’ll be invited to board our luxury coach bus, and in no time at all we’ll arrive at beautiful Interstate State Park perched along the shores of the St. Croix River National Scenic Riverway. Here, we will meet the seasoned experts from Taylors Falls Canoe & Kayak Rental who will equip us with all the knowledge and gear we’ll need for smooth paddling downriver.
The St. Croix River is one of the cleanest and most picturesque river systems in the nation! This means we are sure to enjoy some fabulous views of the local landscape and wildlife. We will take in the sights, sounds, and may even jump in for a swim as we make our way along the Minnesota-Wisconsin border. No canoe trip is complete without a mid-paddle break and nourishment. We aim to satisfy your appetite with a gourmet boxed lunch from local favorite, Juneberry Cafe. At time of registration you can choose between Turkey Pesto with Cheddar, Ham and Cheddar with Fig, or Egg Salad with Fresh Dill.
With bellies full, we will continue our paddle downriver until we reach Osceola Landing. Here we will have the opportunity to get cleaned up before we re-board our coach bus and head to the nearby Rustic Roots Winery, nestled in the beautiful countryside that surrounds the St. Croix River. Here we will be rewarded after our day of paddling with a tasting flight of four of their locally made wines paired with a flavorful appetizer featuring a house-made hummus and a whipped feta dip, served with chips and fresh veggies from our friends at Juneberry Cafe. Afterwards, we will have the opportunity to go on an optional tour, or you may choose to order up a glass of wine and simply enjoy some social time with friends (new and old!) and enjoy the scenery of the valley from atop their gorgeous grounds. A return-trip to the Twin Cities is all that stands between us and our farewell – where we will send you on your way with great memories and a big summer smile!
