Explorer families are invited to a fun and educational day at the Oregon Zoo!
The Oregon Zoo connects the community to the wonder of wildlife to create a better future for all. DSB Explorers will enjoy a day of exploring this regional hub for science, conservation, education and animal well-being.
In addition to the zoo experience, Explorers and their families will:
• Experience Transit travel. Explorers and their families can choose gain experience using transit by taking the MAX Light Rail to and from the Oregon Zoo.
• Experiment with money management. DSB staff and O&M specialists will help Explorers build confidence and self-advocacy skills by managing lunch orders with a purchase card.
• Practice Orientation and Mobility. Gain experience navigating while exploring the zoo.
• Develop family event and outing plans. Parents may have the opportunity to learn ways to support their youth at future family outings
• Discover the different jobs that people do at the zoo.
Families who wish to participate in the Transit Travel Experience will meet at The Delta Park/Vanport MAX station, 1490 North Victory Boulevard, Portland, OR
MAX Riders will meet at the Delta Park/Vanport MAX station at 9:45 a.m. Everyone will meet at the Zoo entrance at 11:00 a.m.
WHO
DSB Explorers ages 13 and under. Every Explorer must be accompanied by an adult.
COST
Free! All expenses are covered for each Explorer and up to two (2) family members.
Additional family members are welcome to join, but they must purchase their own MAX and Zoo tickets and lunch.
