Don’t spill your drink!!!About this EventIFG Micro Tournament: Tavern BrawlThe purpose of this event is to simulate a fight breaking out in a tavern. Each fighter will be equipped with a cup full of water (equal amounts of liquid) and a steel one handed sword (reasonable and safe for spar) of their choice (rapiers not allowed) the goal is to finish the fight without spilling your drink.Equipment:a mask rated for HEMA sparringA gorget rated for HEMA sparringHard shell gloves rated for HEMA SparringFencing Jacket designed for use in HEMA SparringHard joint protection for both knees and elbowsHard shin protectionA sports cup if applicableNO EXPOSED SKINA steel HEMA sparring sword with blade length of 36” or less from cross guard to tip, this can include but is not limited toMesserSaberSideswordArming swordrapier is not allowedBlades will be checked at check in for safetyThere will be an option for a light gear pool this pool will requirea fencing mask rated for HEMA sparringA gorget rated for HEMA sparringA minimum of rapier glovesLeather Dussacks or boffers will be available to be decided by Logan (Shark)Match layoutBoth fighters will start in krieg measureThe run will be small to emulate the tight space of a tavernMatches are fought best of 5 exchanges2 point shallow target4 points deep target-2 point for afterblowDoubles are 0 points each side and count as an exchangeThe winner of the exchanges will get the score for the matchScore is decided as suchthe amount of oz spilled by your opponent rounded up minus the amount of oz you spilled rounded upThis means that you can win a match but lose points because you didn’t protect your drinkExample your opponent spilled 3.4 oz and you spilled 2.6 oz you will add one score (3.4 rounded up to 4 minus 2.6 rounded up to 3 4-3=1)Example your opponent spills 4oz and you spilled 8 oz you will add -4 to your score Water will be measured before and after using the same measuring device to ensure equality Matches will have 1 director and 1 judgeWe will do pools to starta cumulative score will decide who moves to eliminations and seeding (number of combatants moving to Elims will be decided based on time)EliminationsWill be fought as poolsIf the winner of the exchanges would receive a negative score then the match is decided by the total score of both fighters through the event so far including the negative score from that matchExample: your opponent has a score of 34 and you have a score of 36.
