WHAT’S YOUR P(DOOM)?

Is AI going to save us, enslave us, or just write all our event descriptions? Across Silicon Valley’s storied kombucha bars and apocalypse bunkers, tech bros and AI insiders are rumoured to ask each other for their up-to-date p(Doom), or probability of AI doom. Will the future be the rosy utopia offered up in Dario Amodei’s much-discussed essay "Machines of Loving Grace," in which AI accelerates scientific progress to warp speed — essentially curing all human disease, mitigating climate change, and more? Or will the planet be saved from human destruction another way, when artificial intelligence wipes us off the face of the Earth?
