Stupid Face
Stupid face as a collection is heavily inspired by my circus and cabaret practices as well as my version of self -portraiture. Depicting clown-like faces, ruffs and bright colour; my aim was for this to be a playful body of work. Circles, stars, spirals and hula-hoops, I am delighted by this bright and sparkling world; where a face can say everything in one look.
Looking deeper there are themes of flow and the ephemeral nature of performance and connection. I find performing to be a time of intense presence and energetic output, I have attempted to capture a version of this feeling in the eyes and expressions of my three larger sculptures. The series of smaller faces in this collection are more reserved, eyes closed; these speak to making choices to reserve one’s energy when necessary. Whether internal or external, the energy is present.

Marat-Sade in Gail
Marat-Sade in Gail is an artistic meditation on blind devotion, madness, and the devastation left in the wake of power. Through a series of portraits and words, it tells the story of an imaginary island consumed by civil war — where followers perish beneath the ambitions of their leaders. One of the reasons they continue to fight is that war has become a profitable means of livelihood, rather than a struggle for an ideal.
This work is also a mirror of my own journey, shaped by the revolution and the war that tore through my homeland, Syria. It invites the viewer to look into the abyss of fanaticism and reflect on the fragile remnants of our shared humanity.

Again! Again!
Again! Again! is a tribute to persistence in the face of difficulty, imperfection, or even outright failure. Made with a hand-carved stamp based on the humanist typeface Inclusive Sans, each impression represents a missed opportunity to ‘get it right’. Despite misprints, smudges and other mistakes a bold, rhythmic and infinitely repeatable pattern emerges, greater than the sum of its parts.
Chit-Chat
Is a three-piece acoustic indie band from Hobart College. The trio was formed after they challenged themselves to play folk-style songs, but soon enough, they came to love the interesting melodies within folk and indie music. With a mix of bass, acoustic, and electric guitar, they have created a large array of originals with harmonious vocals. Though they focus on original music, they love to put some covers into the mix, especially for public performances!
