Southern Rivers Presentation with Dr. Scot Duncan

The JAX State Field School and Little River National Preserve are
thrilled to welcome award-winning nature writer and Alabama Audubon Executive Director R. Scot Duncan as this year’s BioBlitz keynote presenter!

He'll share insights from his latest book, Southern Rivers: Restoring America's Freshwater Biodiversity (March 2024), a thoroughly crafted exploration of the perilous state of the Southeast’s rivers and the urgent need to safeguard their vitality. The region’s rivers are the epicenter of North American freshwater biodiversity and a global hotspot for aquatic life—including mussels, turtles, snails, crayfish, and fish—that have shaped Southern life and culture. Join us for an inspiring evening that connects science, conservation, and hope for our freshwater future.
