MANIFEST emerges! Groundbreaking Ceremony

Please arrive by 4:10pm to help officially inaugurate the first of a two-phase project to renovate and expand Manifest's beloved historic facility. Learn about all Phase One entails, and be a part of the community that is launching the creation of the Manifest Center for the Visual Arts!

*At 4:30pm the program will kick off with comments by a number of individuals, and then all attendees (with shovels in hand) will be asked to participate in a memorialization of the event with a photograph choreographed by the one and only Michael Wilson.

Additional details, including shovel etiquette, and more will be shared by email with all who RSVP.

THE SPECIAL EVENING

An Open House will follow the ceremony with the Center open until 7pm for refreshments and studio tours.

A display of photographs documenting Manifest’s 21 year history will be on view in the Gallery Hall.

Elsewhere, the spaces that will become Manifest Gallery will offer guests the opportunity to experience a walkthrough of a life-sized model of the future home of the Neighborhood Gallery for the World, revealing a key priority of Phase Two.

Parking will be limited on-site, but available on Clifton Hills Avenue, with primary overflow parking kindly offered by our neighbors at DePaul Cristo Rey High School.

Starting in mid-2022, Manifest’s Drawing Center settled into its new permanent Central Parkway location (M1) in Cincinnati, Ohio. All the 21-year-old nonprofit's studio programs, including many new ones, are now active daily and expanding! The Center’s role as an alternative for visual arts practice and study, and as a haven for those before, between, or after academic study, has been celebrated across the region for the past two decades, attracting participants of all ages and all walks of life from near and far. It complements Manifest's exhibition program at the gallery which was designed at its founding with equity as a core tenant. Both programs reach an incredibly wide diversity of participants, naturally, organically, and in sync with Manifest's mission to support visual literacy, critical thinking, and skill development while promoting the importance of excellence in visual arts.

Current programs include the Center's flagship weekly Open, non-instructed offerings such as Open Figure Drawing five days a week (including a Sunday morning portrait session); Open Darkroom for six sessions across five days a week; and free STUDY HALL (Open Creative Research Studio) times, all serving the creative public, students of art and design, and working artists from the wider Greater Cincinnati region and beyond.

Professionally instructed programs include the ongoing classes: Drawing Essentials, The Figure Series (drawing classes focusing on the human form as subject), The Studio Seminar, and the popular Drawing as Mindfulness, as well as private lessons on a case-by-case basis.

Special visiting artist workshops occur at intervals across the year, with an exciting roster planned across the next several months.
