Esquire- NIGHTSHIFT (1981) w Leontine Cinema

Leontine Cinema partners with Open Source Cinema and Outer Cinema Cincinnati for a special one-night only showing of NIGHTSHIFT (1981) at the ESQUIRE on Thursday, June 5th.

From British director and film projectionist Robina Rose comes Nightshift (1981). This eerie, elusive film follows one night at the lamp-lit Portabello Hotel in West London, seen through the eyes of the night clerk, played by Jordan, who was muse to Vivienne Westwood and Derek Jarman. Borrowing cues from Chantal Akerman's slow cinema, this newly restored masterpiece features lush cinematography from Jon Jost and a score by Simon Jeffes of Penguin Cafe Orchestra. Nightshift is a true testament to the London underground punk scene and avant-garde cinema. It is a now-uncovered, once-hidden gem that must be seen to be believed.
