Over 2023 and 2024 animal protection organisation Farm Transparency Project (FTP) investigated 30 Australian slaughterhouses across five states in Australiaβs largest investigation into animal slaughter facilities.
One of these facilities was Cedar Meats where, in mid 2024, investigators uncovered shocking and disturbing footage of the slaughter of bobby calves, goats and sheep, as well as the killing of newborn goats and lambs, born in the holding pens at the slaughterhouse.
Join us to bear witness outside one of Melbourneβs closest, and most controversial, slaughterhouses and demand an end to the violence and cruelty happening behind closed doors.
Where - Cedar Meats, 690 Geelong Rd, Brooklyn VIC 3012
When - Wednesday 30th July, 7pm - 11pm
We will be gathering from 7pm to speak up for all the animals whose final, brutal moments we captured on camera last year. We will be there as truck drivers arrive to unload animals into the holding pens, ready for the killing day to begin early the next morning.
Please come for as much or as little as you can, each person helps to send a strong message that we will not allow such unspeakable violence to continue unchallenged.
There will be a memorial to remember all the animals killed at Cedar Meats. Please consider bringing flowers, notes, cards, photos and other items to add to the memorial.
Please dress warmly and consider bringing a plate of food to share. Homemade signs are very welcome but we will also have placards for people.
This action is part of the Shut-Down slaughterhouses week of action. To find out more and to discover events in your city, visit the main Facebook event.
