One of the questions we have heard often is how do we address the constant injustices that seem to be coming up on a daily basis? We have heard from you, the SURE members, that you want a way to stand up and say we, as a justice organization will not stand idly by and watch our communities be attacked. We introduced the idea with the Moral Monday event and are hearing you would like to have more opportunities like these. Although we are not a partisan organization, we do stand for justice for ALL! In order to have a rapid response to the constant injustices facing our community, we would like to adopt a Statement of Values.
In my many one-on-ones, I have asked what people think of when they think of SURE. Justice, Faith in action, Collective power, and Hope are the words I have heard the most.
I would like to share this proposed statement of values to read over and contemplate. Email, text, or call us with your thoughts. Depending on your feedback, we will vote to adopt or do away with this statement in the next Board Meeting.
