About the Artist |
Sea Lee received a BFA with Cum Laude honors from the University of Florida and an MFA with fellowship from Hollins University/American Dance Festival. Her holistic approach to training led her to become a certified yoga instructor through Yoga Alliance and a Stott-trained Pilates instructor, integrating the spiritual and physical principles of yoga and pilates into her teaching.
As a performer, Sea danced professionally with Sarasota Contemporary Dance (Sarasota, FL) and Moving Current Dance Collective (Tampa, FL). As an independent artist, she has collaborated with artists across disciplines, including projects with photographer Tom Kramer and Asolo Repertory Theatre’s Kaleidoscope Connect Project, creating accessible and inclusive theatre and dance education content online.
Sea actively promotes accessibility and inclusivity in dance. As part of the “International Dance and Diversity Cultural Exchange Program” with REVolutions Dance (Tampa, FL), she has performed, choreographed, and taught internationally through the U.S. Department of State in countries like Poland and Palestine. She works with students and adults of all abilities, fostering a stronger sense of community among disabled and non-disabled individuals regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Her commitment to underserved communities is evident through her work with Sarasota Ballet’s Dance the Next Generation, a free dance education program for at-risk children in Sarasota and Manatee counties. She also teaches dance to people with Parkinson’s Disease and seniors in Sarasota, integrating movement as a form of orthopedic wellness.
Sea is passionate about educating the next generation of dancers. She has taught at the University of Tampa, Hillsborough Community College, St. Petersburg College, and Cypress Creek Middle School, among others. Her collegiate and professional-level teaching focuses on fostering reciprocity, deconstructing and reconstructing technique, sustainability, and generosity in movement.
As a choreographer, Sea has created 17 works over 27 events, with her choreography presented by Sarasota Contemporary Dance, Moving Current Dance Collective, Co-motion Dance Theatre, and at notable venues like the American Dance Festival and Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival. She is also an arts advocate, serving on review panels for festivals and grants, including Creative Pinellas and the Emerging Artist Grant.
