Bryan J. Hughes and The Crew - MNJC

Hailing from the Florida West Coast music scene, The Crew comprises five professional musicians, united by their love of live performances. Formed in early 2021 after being offered a residency at The Floridian Social Club, the band quickly established a reputation for their captivating live performances. Every Sunday, The Crew reworked beloved songs from the Great American Songbook while branching out into soulful renditions of classic R&B, creating a sound that resonates with music lovers of all kinds.

Each member of The Crew brings a unique background to the group: John C. O'Leary III (Mexico), Jean Bolduc (Canada), Alejandro Arenas(Colombia), James Suggs (U.S. with 8 years in Buenos Aires), and Bryan Hughes(Florida). This international mix creates a rich and diverse sound that comesalive in their performances, making every show a must-hear experience. Theiron-stage chemistry is undeniable, blending heart-touching music withgenuine camaraderie, delivering not just engaging performances butmemorable experiences.

The Crew’s deep repertoire and varied arrangements make them a standoutact, and their combined talents have graced stages at prestigious venues,including the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, Newport Beach Jazz Festival, UmbriaJazz Festival, and Düsseldorf Jazz Rally, among many others. Their versatility isreadily apparent on their self-titled debut album, released in August 2024.

Each musician in The Crew has impressive credentials: John and Alejandro arepart of the award winning trio La Lucha and are respected music educators atthe University of Tampa and St. Petersburg College respectively. James hastoured the world extensively, has a solo album under Arbors Records and iscurrently working on a second release. He also teaches at the University ofSouth Florida and St. Petersburg College. Jean is one of the most sought-aftersession drummers in Florida, while Bryan, with four solo CDs under his belt, iscurrently working on his fifth. Together, they form a group that thrives on thejoy of creating music—offering an unforgettable live music experience withsoul and passion.
