For 43 years, this highly anticipated seasonal event has consistently drawn visitors, featuring over 100 inventive scarecrows that add to the charm of this unique outdoor shopping destination.
Then, enjoy a guided historical tour of Fonthill Castle, in Bucks County, the unique home of Henry Mercer, and discover the renowned artifacts inside. An eclectic mix of Gothic, Medieval, and Byzantine architecture, the castle’s interior walls, floors, and ceilings are elaborately adorned with an array of original handcrafted tiles. With more than 44 rooms, 32 stairwells, 18 fireplaces, 21 chimneys, and 200 windows, the National Historic Landmark of Fonthill Castle is one of the most unusual homes someone will ever visit.
Afterwards, we tour the iconic Mercer Museum, which features one of Pennsylvania’s most extraordinary and quirky antique collections, packed floor to ceiling in an extraordinary building resembling a Grand European Castle. Henry Mercer created this historical museum building and vast collection that showcases everyday life in America during the 18th and 19th centuries. The collection features approximately 40,000 objects that illustrate the lives and activities of early Americans, focusing on the tools that fulfilled their needs and desires before the Industrial Revolution, around the year 1850.
