11:30 Arrive Fallingwater by Frank Lloyd Wright
Perched on a rock above a gushing waterfall, this historic house was built for a Pittsburgh family by architect Frank Lloyd Wright in the 1930s, ingeniously designed to blend harmoniously into the tranquil and beautiful woods around it. Rather than positioning the house to overlook the waterfall, Wright boldly designed it to sit directly above it. This choice allows the sounds of rushing water to permeate the house, enhancing the connection between the structure and its natural setting. Fallingwater remains a symbol of innovative architectural design and environmental harmony that attracts thousands of visitors annually.
Enjoy Lunch on your own at the Fallingwater Café onsite. It’s the perfect place to experience the natural beauty of the natural surrounding with locally sourced coffee, salads, sandwiches, and fresh house-made sweets.
3:30 Arrive Flight 93 Memorial and proceed on a Self-guided Tour of the Visitor Center.
This national memorial was created to honor the passengers and crew of Flight 93, who stopped the terrorists from reaching their target by fighting the hijackers. The museum exhibits include the flight path map, artifacts related to the events of September 11, and audio recordings of the phone messages left by passengers for their loved ones. An observation platform at the visitor center and the white marble wall are both aligned beneath the path of Flight 93. The memorial is a place for reflection, remembrance, and learning about the events of September 11, 2001, and the heroism of those on Flight 93.
Board the bus - depart for lower level – walk to view The Wall of Names, Impact Site and Debris Field.
Visit the Tower of Voices Memorial, a 93-foot tall, musical instrument-like structure holding 40 wind chimes, one for each passenger and crew member on the flight. It serves as a living memorial, with the chimes intended to evoke the voices of those who perished on Flight 93 through their sounds.
