Imagine: you find yourself caught in a web of knotted yarn that seems to have lost both its ends as a kind voice in a YouTube video uses phrases that seem meaningless, even though you're sure you've heard them before.
If you don't have to imagine this scene because you've lived something like it, 1) I'm sorry for your loss of a perfectly good, unknotted skein of yarn, and 2) this course is for you!
This set of four crochet classes will go through four projects for you to learn and practice basic knowledge and skills, including but not limited to:
- how to pick yarn for different projects
- how to hold yarn and hook
- basic stitches, including increasing and decreasing
- how to change colors
- how to work in the round
The projects you will take home will be a washcloth, a mug rug/coaster, and two plushies. By the end of the course, you will also have taken home:
- four written patterns with keys for crochet terms
- two crochet hooks
- two stitch markers
- a yarn needle
*At the final class, there will be a door prize drawing for a crochet goodie bag. Each participant will receive one entry each time they attend a class. Participants who share the event with friends and attend together will each receive one additional entry for the drawing in the first class. (This includes the invited participants - they will also receive an additional entry.)
*We will take a few short breaks for stretching our hands and restroom visits. You are welcome to bring a snack and/or drink to enjoy during breaks as well!
Classes will be July 14th, July 21st, July 28th, and August 4th, beginning at 5:45 pm and ending at 7:45 pm.
Because the concepts in each class build on the previous ones and aim to set a solid foundation of crochet knowledge, sign-up will be for all four classes in the course instead of for each class individually.
