Beyond the Margins: Zine x Journal
Artists Caravan (AC) is an independent art collective founded in 2008. Members involved in this project are co-founders Ong Xiao Yun and Joey.Spl. Since its inception, AC's practices have been shaped by movement, dialogue, and shared authorship, deeply rooted in the spaces we inhabit and the communities we serve. We pose the question, "Whose practice is it?" and respond through collaboration, co-creation, and art as lived experience.
"Beyond the Margins: Zine x Journal" exhibition serves as both an archive and a reimagining, bringing together five years of Genetic Landscape zines and journals. These pieces are not simply objects to view but are transformed into interactive, spatial, and sculptural works.

Line Drawings (2018) is an ongoing video series by Western Australian artist Sam Bloor. Similar to rules and regulations, lines promote social order and conformity. Bloor disrupts such assumptions by expanding on pre-existing symmetry and shifting human behaviour. Line Drawings detail unauthorised painting gestures as the artists processes are filmed using surveillance-like drone footage. The angle of the camera, eagle-eyed and distant, can only watch on. Similar to CCTV, which is designed to prevent and detect crime, it is rendered helpless without the means of physical intervention.

There is something to be said, or not said, about unspoken themes - a play into the juxtaposition of what can be beautiful and what can become unsettling. Through surrealistic themes and dream logic, my technique aims to communicate what an escapism which may be physical or experience through depersonalisation. What is warping from the depicted reality to our own becomes more blurred.
These works follow a disjointed tale of utilising fantasy media to attempt (or succeed) at escaping reality through the chase of the nostalgic and yearn to disconnect. The medieval fantasy of media from the 1970s and 1980s served as the artistic model for these pieces. Fantastical media escapism which draws inspiration from digital point-and-click RPGs and Arthurian-style dungeon crawlers from these eras.

DJ Pet is performing a live collage of sound creating real or imaged environments. Field recording, electromagnetic recording, appropriated audio and sine wave are combined in a blanket of texture and frequency.
The CDJ is a digital instrument for the playing and manipulation of sound. The mixer is a tool for shaping and combining the sound. The performance for CDJ and mixer is in an extension of past practice of improvised noise, no-input mixing and tape music.
