Free Live Music at HBC
Featuring Q.E., Miah Aplin & Townie.
Q.E.:
So this is Q.E., the musical fever dream of Jacky Collyer
from nipaluna/Hobart. Q.E. makes music the way some
people make sense of a senseless world - by embracing
the beautiful mess of it all. Take Radiohead's existential
dread, marry it to Aphex Twin's digital hallucinations, and
let it all simmer in the jazz-soaked influence of Billie Holiday, and somehow this impossible recipe produces
something that crawls into the deep places of your brain
where you keep the thoughts you don't tell your psych
about. When Q.E. takes the stage with Damien Kingston (guitar),
Hamish Houston (bass), and Tom Robb (drums), strange
things happen. The shadows lean in closer to listen. The
walls breathe. The ceiling lowers. Everyone leaves a little
changed. So it goes.
Miah Aplin:
Miah Aplin is a 22 year old singer-songwriter from Nipaluna, Australia. After years cutting her teeth busking locally as a small child she has blossomed into a potent storyteller and fierce live performer. Miah combines Missy Higgins and Eloise influences, letting intricate and emotional harmony breathe in concise and classic singer songwriter/pop contexts.
Joined by her band of fellow singer-songwriters, she delivers a dynamic live set that will get you dancing and pausing to reflect in equal measure.
Townie:
Townie is a four piece indie rock/pop band from nipaluna/hobart. They formed in 2023 to bring new life to singer songwriter, Maddie’s, original music, and have been playing gigs around the Hobart music scene since. Townie is inspired by the likes of Big Thief, Julia Jacklin, and Mazzy Star.
