Guru Arjan Dev Ji was the fifth of the ten Sikh Gurus. He compiled the first official edition of the Sikh scripture called the Adi Granth, which later expanded into the Guru Granth Sahib. He is regarded as the first of the two Gurus martyred in the Sikh faith.
Guru Arjan Dev Ji's Shaheedi Diwas, also known as the Martyrdom Day of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, is observed annually in the month of Jeth (May-June). This day commemorates the execution of the fifth Sikh Guru by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. Sikhs worldwide honor his sacrifice and teachings of selfless service, devotion, and honest living. .
