Images From The Void - Paintings By Mary Sundstrom and Tim Kurtz

“Images from the Void” brings together the work by two accomplished and inspiring West Michigan artists: Mary Sundstrom and Tim Kurtz.

Mary Sundstrom, a West Michigan artist, is deeply influenced by the natural beauty of her region. As a naturalist, she draws inspiration from the creatures, botanicals, and minerals found in the bayous and along the shorelines of the Great Lakes. Her artwork, often playful, translates the natural world she observes into vibrant paintings. When she's not at the easel or exploring the woods for mushrooms, Mary also creates unique jewelry pieces and sculptures. She previously served for many years as the Exhibitions Director at the Holland Area Arts Council before deciding to dedicate herself to art full-time.

Tim Kurtz was co-founder and director of Gallery X in Chicago. He taught at Kendall College, was a principal designer at Herman-Miller and has founded numerous companies including Esperanto Contemporary Furniture Company. In addition to his abstract and cubist work, Tim also creates historical paintings for the US National Park Service and historical preservation programs, with a focus on the American Civil War.
His work hangs in several museums throughout the US, and he has participated in regular shows in Chicago, NYC and Sri Lanka. He is represented by NYC-based art consulting company Second Ave Arts.
