Worlds of Wonder – Matariki Planetarium Screening

Celebrate Matariki in the Planetarium with an enchanting evening under the stars.

This special three-part event begins with Waka Whetū, a short film that explores the stars of Matariki and their significance, offering a powerful reflection on mātauraka Māori (Māori knowledge) and celestial navigation.

Next, sit back and enjoy Mārama ā Whetū, an in-house production that delves into Māori sky lore, myths, and legends of the southern night sky. This beautifully crafted film brings to life the stories passed down through generations.

We finish this luxurious evening with Night Sky Live, where you'll be taken on a guided tour of the night sky. Explore the Matariki star cluster in greater detail, then journey deeper into space to see the stunning deep-sky objects that illuminate our universe.
