Members and supporters of the Kura of jiu jitsu Ōtepoti are invited to attend the Term 2 grading day. Show what you've learned this term and earn a stripe on your belt!
usually a full afternoon of festivities to enjoy together, however due to the terms stat days and the competition calendar we are doing this a little differently
Each age group's grading will occur during the normal class times i.e.
Littles at 4:00pm
Middles at 4:30pm
Juniors, Teens, and Juveniles at 5:15pm
Adults at 6:15pm.
Students can achieve a promotion by demonstrating what you have learnt this term and passing the exam! This will be followed by a short game time and photos. Invite your parents, friends and family to attend and celebrate your achievements with you.
We will practice the exam in review sessions during the week.
The grading fee is $25. You can pay this online or in cash on the day. (If you have already paid the $200 kids' membership fee, you have already paid your child's grading day fee.)
To qualify to pass the grading and be promoted, you must show good discipline and understanding of the techniques taught in during the term. To do this:
- demonstrate the techniques asked of you;
- answer the questions to demonstrate your knowledge of the names, and reasons or strategies behind the techniques;
- wear the correct school uniform (our school gi);
- make sure your fees are paid;
- and present your signed attendance card to indicate you have attended at least once a week (unless excused) and that you have attended sports day.
Based on your performance over the term, during the sports day and the grading exam, you will have the opportunity to Achieve, or receive a Merit, or Excellence.
These are recorded to your education transcript and so available for certification each year. remember your education transcript is your record of achievement in jiu jitsu
