About the event

Whale of a Weekend - Unveiling the Memorial
South Georgia is coming to Dundee to celebrate whales, polar exploration and Scotland’s connection to this incredible island! Our exciting Whale of a Weekend festival will take place from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 June 2025 at Dundee Waterfront.

Discover the Whale Memorial - Unveiled from 4:30pm.
Available to view all weekend until 5pm on Sunday 29 June.

The unveiling of the Whale Memorial that has been specially created for South Georgia, by Scottish artist Michael Visocchi.
This monumental sculpture called Commensalis tells the story of the whale. The Key Table is the first part of the site-specific sculpture and can be seen for the first time in Dundee before it departs for the island of South Georgia later in the summer.
