well-crafted at Castalia

Please join us for the opening reception of well-crafted, a series curated by Brianna Ray at Castalia on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 6 - 10pm.

well-crafted is committed to showcasing the creativity and craftsmanship of local artists from various disciplines. Our mission is to create a space that celebrates thoughtfully made work, fosters meaningful connections between artists and the community, and honors the value of local, original expression.

To launch the series, we’re featuring Elaisha Hilliard, a relief print artist, and Azzah Smith, a collage artist, each exploring the concept of layers. Though their techniques differ, both create depth and meaning through the layering of lines, textures, and materials. Their work invites you to explore how layers can tell a story through the interplay of visual elements.

Castalia is an experimental craft cocktail bar located in Midtown, Detroit. Focusing on the harmony between flavor and fragrance, each drink is paired with a scent from their sister company, Sfumato.
