About the Laminate Flooring workshop:

This workshop will explore the basics of working with and installing laminate and vinyl plank flooring. Attendees will learn about:

• Types of plank flooring with recommendations based on space considerations and budget
• What tools and materials to have on hand to install your own plank flooring
• Room layout considerations
• Underlayment options and considerations
• Other necessary preparations for the room before installing

Once these topics are covered, the class will have a hands-on opportunity to practice laying out, cutting, and installing vinyl plank floor.

Lead Poisoning Hazard Disclaimer: All home renovation work can create a significant lead hazard if completed in a pre-1978 home. DIYD will provide Lead Poisoning Prevention resources to any workshop attendee living in a pre-1978 home. DIYD also hosts a lead safety class twice a year - we highly recommend that you sign up for the lead safety class before you complete these projects in your home if your home was built before 1978 and you have young children living in your home.

About the teacher:

Felicia Deitmaring (she/her) is a lifelong Kentucky resident. She has been in the construction field for over 5 years and has worked on dozens of residential builds in various phases. She has completed 19 start-to-finish builds as a supervisor. She lives in Covington, KY wit her 3 dogs and a few fish. When she's not working on affordable housing in the Cincinnati area she enjoys hiking, playing golf, gardening, and volunteering at Cincinnati Animal Cares.

Do It Yourself Darlin (DIYD) hosts educational, hands-on home repair workshops for new and veteran homeowners, renters, and everyone in between. The program aims to empower anyone and everyone to feel comfortable and confident understanding the components that make up a house while learning home repair and tool use skills along the way. All of DIYD‘s workshops are geared toward beginners, pay-what-you-can, taught by local Cincinnati craftspeople, and open to everyone ages 16 and up.
