July is BAFS poetry camp month!
We are excited to welcome Vic Ruggiero as the featured teacher for July’s Second Sunday Poetry & Performance Lab! Vic will lead us in a workshop on the poetics of songwriting.
The Poetry and Performance Lab is a quarterly Canyon Theater “field trip” edition of Beyond Academia's monthly Second Sunday class, intended as a space to experiment with poetic performance.
The Poetry and Performance Lab includes live improv music created by multi-instrumentalist Squiddius J Madden and the Starjammer.
All levels of experience are welcome!
The mission of Beyond Academia is to deconstruct barriers to the benefits of a poetic arts education. We contend that “art” has the potential to alter cultural reality towards a more just and equitable society, and practitioners thereof have a responsibility to consciously guide the results through the study of communication, humanities, and creative processes.
