Walampuri - වාලම්පුරි හෙවත් හීන හතාමාරක්

In this tale of deception and misadventure, a group of five village men, each with unique skills, form a traveling theatre troupe to camouflage their illicit actives. When approached by Swami, a con artist posing as a priest, they agree to pose as fake businessmen in a scheme to buy two Walampooris (auspicious conch shell).

"Walampoori" marks a standout moment in Sri Lankan cinema, where the young director, Lakmal Dharmarathna, skillfully harnessed the depth and maturity of veteran actors to tell a story rooted in real-life simplicity. The film's storyline was inspired by a common incident, turning it into a powerful cinematic experience. Many viewers praised the performances not as acting, but as truly "living" the roles-highlighting the untapped potential of Sri Lankan actors when given meaningful scripts.
