An evening of two concerts presents Argentinian musicians Violeta García and Lucio Capece, each known for their innovative approaches to experimental and improvised music.
Violeta García is a cellist, improviser and composer from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Traveling between Switzerland, Barcelona and Buenos Aires.
She performs in many art forms, including free improvisation, contemporary and trans media experimental repertoire on the violoncello and with electronics, as well as collaborations with dancers, filmmakers, and visual artists. After studying classical and popular music on the cello and later contemporary composition and improvisation, Violeta realized that her own musical voice needed to be expressed outside of specific genres. She loves to improvise, compose, and create new sounds, experiment with extended techniques and prepared instruments, and work with dynamic, rhythmic, and original melodic combinations in her intense and visceral performances. Her main interest now lies in exploring new sound spaces that invite the audience on an inner journey.
Argentinian musician Lucio Capece is based in Berlin since 2004.
He has been active as a composer and performer of experimental music since the late 1990s. Since 2010, he has devoted himself to works that explore the experience of perception, which he performs solo or in occasional collaborations with like-minded artists.
Lucio Capece works as a composer and performer in permanent ensembles, using instruments such as flying loudspeakers suspended from helium balloons and moved by propellers, loudspeakers as pendulums, analog synthesizers, sine wave and noise generators, drum machines, ultraviolet light, sensors, khenes, and the instruments he has been playing for 25 years: bass clarinet, soprano saxophone, and alto saxophone. Over the past five years, Capece has developed projects that he considers phenomenology of music-making, intended to offer music that questions what makes music something that can only be enjoyed as music.
