Marie Kühn and Jacob Müller met in Berlin after studying and working in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. They build their sound from a shared passion for the bittersweet harmonies of Brazilian bossa nova and imaginative guitar sounds, frequently merging into hypnotic echo loops. For "Cedo & Sentado" they will team up with Juca Junio for a set of Brazilian gems and original tunes.
Marie Kühn: Moving between Berlin and São Paulo, a microphone and a record collection, Marie Kühn has been following her enthusiasm for the history(s) of bossa nova and samba. She has collaborated with the Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Filó Machado for workshops and concerts, and regularly works with Brazilian Berliners such as bassist Thiago Duarte, multi-instrumentalist Maurício Fleury, percussionist Amoy Ribas and singer-songwriter Zé Leônidas.
Jacob Müller from Berlin is a versatile guitarist, composer and trumpeter. With his trio Krähe mobil he sets out for expeditions from jazz to fusion and afrobeat; with bAMBI&ENTe he creates analog ambient from the dialogue between two guitars. Ever since his first work trip to Rio de Janeiro, Bossa Nova hasn't let him go.
Juca Junio is a prolific percussionist from Pernambuco, Brazil. In Berlin, he plays in the bands A panda do sol, Fuxico, Tragatu, and many more.
