Tanzdemo "Wem gehört die Stadt?"

[English below!] Berlin verändert sich – aber nicht so, wie es sollte. Während die Mieten weiter steigen, Clubs schließen, Jugendzentren um ihre Finanzierung kämpfen und Eckkneipen verdrängt werden, profitieren nur wenige vom Wachstum unserer Stadt. #Kleinsparer klagen Mieter*innen aus umgewandelten Eigentumswohnungen, Investor*innen reißen Freiräume ab, in denen mal gelebt, gearbeitet und gefeiert wurde, wenige Überreiche werden immer reicher, während wir uns morgens in überfüllte U-Bahnen quetschen und überlegen, ob wir diesen Monat eher Miete zahlen oder mal wieder Gemüse essen.

Und der CDU/SPD Senat? Steckt unser Geld in sündhaft teure und von der Mehrheit der Berliner*innen nicht gewollte Projekte wie die A100, eine Olympiabewerbung oder Spiele der amerikanischen Football-Liga NFL, während er im selben Atemzug Fördermittel für soziale, kulturelle und queere Projekte streicht und durch die Weigerung, den erfolgreichen Volksentscheid “Deutsche Wohnen und Co Enteignen” endlich umzusetzen effektiven Schutz von Mieterinnen und Mietern verhindert..

Auf Bundesebene dasselbe Bild: Während Transferleistungen gekürzt werden, spart sich die CDU/SPD Bundesregierung am Lebensnotwendigen kaputt – bei Bildung, Grundsicherung, Gesundheit. Wer wenig hat, wird kontrolliert. Wer viel hat, wird geschont. Unterdessen öffnet sich die Schere zwischen Arm und Reich immer weiter, was die Nazis sich mit ihrem unverhohlenem Populismus und ihrer Hetze zunutze machen.

Doch unsere Stadt ist mehr als Investor*innentraum und Standortfaktor: Berlin ist Freiraum und Vielfalt. Das wollen wir nicht verlieren. Wir kämpfen für eine Stadt, in der wir alle wohnen, feiern und leben können – unabhängig von Herkunft und Einkommen. Für wirksamen Schutz von Mieter*innen. Für lebenswerte, leistbare Kieze und offene Räume für Kunst und Kultur.

Stemmt euch mit uns am 13. September gegen soziale Spaltung, Verdrängung und das Verschwinden unserer Freiräume. Für ein Berlin, in dem wir alle gemeinsam gut leben können.

Berlin is changing – but not in the way it should. While rents keep rising, clubs are closing, youth centers are fighting for their funding, and corner pubs are being pushed out, only a few benefit from our city’s growth. Small-time speculators are evicting tenants from converted condos, investors are tearing down free spaces where people once lived, worked, and celebrated, and a handful of ultra-rich keep getting richer while we squeeze into overcrowded subways in the morning, wondering whether to pay rent this month or finally eat some fresh vegetables again.

And the CDU/SPD Senate? They pour our money into outrageously expensive projects that the majority of Berliners don’t even want – like the A100 highway extension, an Olympic bid, or American NFL football games – while at the same time cutting funding for social, cultural, and queer projects. By refusing to finally implement the successful referendum “Expropriate Deutsche Wohnen & Co,” they block effective protection for tenants.

On the federal level, it’s the same picture: while social benefits are being cut, the CDU/SPD federal government is slashing essential spending – on education, basic security, and healthcare. Those who have little are policed and controlled. Those who have a lot are spared. Meanwhile, the gap between rich and poor keeps widening, which the Nazis exploit with their brazen populism and hate.

But our city is more than just an investor’s dream or an economic asset. Berlin is freedom and diversity. We don’t want to lose that. We fight for a city where we can all live, celebrate, and belong – regardless of origin or income. For effective tenant protection. For vibrant, affordable neighborhoods and open spaces for art and culture.

Join us on September 13 to stand against social division, displacement, and the disappearance of our free spaces. For a Berlin where we can all live well together.
