Antonio Lopez grew up in Alamosa and has taken his music far and wide since, achieving great success in the high-powered northern Colorado music scene of Denver, Boulder and Lyons. We at Society Hall are excited to welcome him (with his great band) back home so he can share with all of us all the wonderful work he's been doing!
Antonio Lopez is a quiet man with something to say. His music is like an onion, each layer revealing more. His adept guitar work and composition skills are never used in a showy way but rather like the spices in a home-cooked meal. The result is a feast of emotions that delight the listener. His sound is modern folk rock with marimba swells and swooning fingerstyle guitar over a rock-solid rhythm section. Through the lens of his indigenous Chicano roots, Lopez speaks many truths with gentle precision. Rather than tell the listener what to feel or think, Lopez invites you to see yourself reflected in the lyrical stories created by the music. He holds degrees in guitar performance and music composition from Adams State University. Antonio is a Colorado native from Alamosa and now resides in Longmont.
The Antonio Lopez Band is: Antonio Lopez - guitar, vocals, piano, Chad E. Mathis - bass, vocals, piano, Jonathan Sadler - marimba, vibraphone, aux percussion, vocals, and Christopher Scott Wright - drums, vocals.
Ol' Scratch has been taking their “acid-funk” music out into the surrounding regions from their home base in Alamosa for several years now, and have been winning fans wherever they go. Their blend of compelling, moving and catchy original music and select classics keep the audience engaged and entertained. Front men Marc Eaton on guitar and Gabe Swanson on keyboards are both triple threats in songwriting, singing and great instrumental work and are supported by the deep funk rhythm section of Monte Spears on bass and Colin Wankelman on drums. Adding to the instrumental firepower of the band is saxophonist-extraordinaire Matt Wellman.
The board of Society Hall, a 501c-3 non-profit organization, invites you to another great evening of music with the Antonio Lopez Band and Ol' Scratch at Society Hall, Saturday, June 28th at 7:30 pm. Doors will open at 6:30. Tickets are $20.00 and are available at the link below, or in Alamosa at the Green Spot, or at the door. Society Hall – Where Community Celebrates!
