About Our Speaker: Ryan Dowdy, PhD - Founder and CEO of READYBAR, LLC.

Ryan Dowdy is a UC Davis food science Ph.D. and former NASA System Manager who led the food system for the International Space Station. He now applies that same technical rigor and systems thinking to READYBAR, a high-performance meal bar built for the front lines. Ryan recently secured a $172K USDA SBIR Phase I grant to validate READYBAR’s shelf life and nutritional stability—de-risking the science for future scale.

READYBAR LLC is building the only meal replacement bar designed to meet USDA dietary guidelines and survive the extreme conditions faced by the front line. Inspired by NASA deep-space nutrition R&D, the company is commercializing shelf-stable, low-sugar fuel that replaces an entire meal—without the crash. With early traction and non-dilutive R&D funding, READYBAR is now poised to scale production and sales.

Learn from a Local is an on-going speaker series hosted by AgStart, a non-profit organization supporting entrepreneurs advancing innovation in agriculture and food technology (AgriFoodTech). Typically on the 1st Thursday evening of every month, AgStart hosts a local speaker from the AgriFoodTech sector to speak on a topic relevant to our entrepreneurial ecosystem.
