Scripture Matthew 5::13-16
Salt and Light -The Message
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
A quote attributed to Nelson Mandela, but it was actually written by Marianne Williamson.
The quote is: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you to be? You are a child of God. Your play is no different from theirs. We are letting the world die for fear that our lights will shine. We are letting a world that is sick, hurting, and tired, die from our presence."
Rev. Rosalie E. Norman-McNaney, a Board member of Interfaith United Inc of Brevard is an ordained American Baptist- USA Minister, Grief Specialist, Hospice Chaplain and Spiritual Director.
Rev. Rosalie has over 60 years of combined experience in education and ministry. She created and administered educational programs and caring ministries for senior adults and individuals with disabilities for secular and faith-based programs on regional, statewide and national levels.
She believes that God is “Love” and that each person is made in the image of God regardless of race, faith, ethnicity, language, age, sexual orientation or ability. God welcomes all
and expects us to seek to see the divine in each person.
As God’s Beloved, we are each called to use our God-given gifts to serve God
and each other and to reflect and usher in Hope, Joy, Peace, Unity and Love.
