70th Flaherty Seminar Gathering: Onward! (Day 1)

Free admission, held in the Sverdrup Building (8300 Big Bend Blvd), room 123, on the campus of Webster University.

The Flaherty Seminar is a programmer-forward decentralized film festival of sorts, this year held in New York City. We are hosting a Gathering which will screen four of this year's programs once the main festival has concluded. This year's program was curated collaboratively by past seminar programmers Janaína Oliviera (2021), Carlos A. Gutiérrez (2007), and Richard Herskowitz (2009), with assistance from Zaina Bseiso, Christopher Harris (a Webster alumnus!), and Louis Massiah, to whom we collectively give our trust; the Flaherty is based on the premise of “non-preconception” and a want to experience art while leaving behind the external biases we may carry. Free and open to the public, and while not compulsory, RSVP is much appreciated at the attached link. (Be sure to pick "Saint Louis, MO, USA" from the drop-down list.) No need to commit to any specific show(s) at the time of RSVP. Patrons are encouraged to come to as many or as few as they would like. Further details will be sent to those who RSVP’d + The Flaherty will also provide a 50% discount code ($25) to RSVP’d Gathering participants to access the Online Experience with all 2025 Seminar films on the online platform. Each program will include a discussion led by Webster Film Series director Pete Timmermann; filmmaker and Film Series coordinator Angela Guo; and/or filmmaker and artist Andrea Callard. Discussion time is not reflected in the above-cited runtime.
