From Iowa & Back - The Vietnam Era at the Grout Museum

Join filmmaker Jeremy Glazier and the Grout Museum for a free showing of the award winning feature-length film "From Iowa & Back - The Vietnam Era" and a Q&A session with the filmmaker!

"From Iowa and Back - The Vietnam Era" represents years of community engagement, collaboration, and storytelling. The film offers a deeply personal exploration of the lives of ordinary Iowans who grew up in the 1950s and 60s, left the idyllic landscapes of small-town America, and faced the realities of wartime in foreign lands and at home. Through Glazier’s lens, the film chronicles these veterans’ journeys, from the turbulence of war to the challenges of reintegration upon returning home. It provides a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by a generation whose narratives have often been overshadowed by history.

Through Brucemore’s Artisan Studio program, a team consisting of production managers, writers, editors, colorists, sound editors, and composers has been gathered to work hand-in-hand with the filmmaker to achieve his creative vision for the project. Brucemore is proud to be part of the telling of this story of everyday Iowans who sacrificed some of their youth to serve their country.

The Grout Museum District in Waterloo, Iowa is home to the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum, making it the perfect place to show the film. The Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum honors the service and sacrifice of all Iowa veterans from the Civil War to present.
