Embodied Medicine training is tailored for mental health professionals, offering a trauma-informed, somatic, body-oriented therapeutic approach in the growing field of Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy. BIYOME invites you to explore the future of mental health through embodied psychiatry, psychology, and psychotherapy. This unique program combines professional development with a deeply personal journey of self-discovery, encouraging participants to explore self and consciousness through the contemplative traditions of Yoga and Buddhism. Guided by the truth that “Yoga is the great vocation that leads to the end of suffering,” you will uncover the profound connection between consciousness, compassion, and inner attunement.
Psychedelic-Assisted Psychosomatic Therapy – The Medico-Legal Framework
As a dedicated course provider, we adhere to current Australian guidelines, ensuring a commitment to the safe, ethical, and efficacious integration of psychedelic-assisted therapy within a medico-legal framework. This training is a professional pathway that respects emerging Australian standards, meeting the increased training demand for authorised prescribers, psychedelic therapists and facilitators to contribute to psychedelic-assisted therapy.
As of July 1, 2023, authorised psychiatrists in Australia can legally access products containing 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA) for the treatment of traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and psilocybin for treatment-resistant depression. This decision reflects research showing MDMA has demonstrated efficacy in addressing post-traumatic stress disorder, while psilocybin shows promising outcomes for treating individuals with treatment-resistant depression.
Our mission is grounded in the safe integration of psychedelic-assisted therapy as a last-resort treatment within the mental health care system, aiming to address the role that trauma often plays in treatment-resistant psychiatric disorders. These challenges not only place a significant burden on the healthcare system but also have a profound, long-lasting impact on individuals and their families.
In both Australia and on a global scale, there is an expanding body of research in the field of psychedelic science. There is evident potential for psychedelic therapy in addressing chronic conditions that affect a large segment of the population and may alleviate the strain on healthcare resources.
Moreover, ongoing research continues into how altered states of consciousness (brought about by a variety of psychedelic compounds and practices such as holotropic breathwork), when combined with psychotherapy, might provide breakthroughs in the understanding of the neurobiology underpinnings of treatment-resistant psychiatric disorders. The work in this field is also contributing to a growing momentum in the allied field of emotional well-being and the nature of suffering in everyday life.
Whether you are a mental health professional, psychologist, psychiatrist, doctor, or currently practising psychedelic-assisted therapist, this embodied medicine training will further equip you with the knowledge and tools to integrate the wisdom and methods of contemplative traditions with trauma-informed research in mind-body medicine. You will have the option to register as a provisional 200-hour yoga teacher with Yoga Australia upon completion of this training.

This course allows the following Pathways to Accreditation to become a legally practising accredited PAT therapist:
Psychedelic Prescriber (PP),
Psychedelic-Assisted Therapist (PAT), or
Psychedelic Facilitator (PF).
It is currently a suitable pathway for registered Psychiatrists, General Practitioners, Pharmacists, Psychotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Naturopaths, Paramedics, Indigenous practitioners, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Mental Health Workers and Allied Health Professionals.
Mental health professionals or those who have demonstrated skills in the field of mental health, having completed this course, may be eligible to be psychedelic facilitators as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Somatic Therapists and Yoga and Meditation teachers need one of the qualifications above to legally practise or to be professionally registered with a suitable governing body.
A successful applicant will need to have extensive therapeutic experience with clients. Professional and life experience is valuable, considered upon entry and must be listed on the resume.
BIYOME will accept applicants who are qualified academic researchers and AHPRA medical professionals who are not seeking to become psychedelic therapists but are interested in learning more about PAT and contemplative practices. If you are a researcher in the field of psychedelic therapies and want an integrated and holistic insight into psychedelic therapy, this course is for you.
