He has a PhD in Health Informatics from Indiana University, which focuses on human-computer interaction (HCI), i.e., how people use technology. He worked for two years for Epic Systems, an electronic health record company, where he worked closely with hospital staff and clinicians to use software to support patient care. He has knowledge of both the healthcare system and computer science.
