Our vision at Path of Grace is for a more loving world for ALL. Through connection, service, celebration and love, we are growing as disciples of Jesus who transform the world.
We're most effective at creating a more loving world for all, when we know "all," not just those who are the most like us.
Some may think that we need to focus on people we haven't met or perhaps are new acquaintances. But let's think again. How deeply do we really know our closest neighbors, those at Path of Grace with whom we worship week after week, year after year. We may know something 'about' them, we may think they are 'just like us', but do we really know them and their stories?
In the spirit of deepening our connections with neighbors, the Path of Grace ABIDE (Accessibility, Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity) team invites you to participate in Story Stitch at Path of Grace: Deepening our Connections with Neighbors.
On Wednesday, June 25, at 6:00 pm, we will share a light Thai meal prepared by Catherine Solheim and Sumol Thungkaew, and then engage with 5-6 Path of Grace 'neighbors', those who are new to us and those who have been in our lives for a while, to play Story Stitch, a game that involves sharing our stories and hearing other's stories.
The game involves each person selecting a card with a question they answer by telling a story. There are varying levels of disclosure represented by the questions asked on the cards; you can choose one that is comfortable for you. As you share your story, others mindfully and empathetically listen. After completing your story, other players can use one of their four story stitch cards to 'stitch' or connect their own experience to your story, or ask you a question. Players must use their cards wisely. Once your stitch cards are gone, they're gone; you may only listen until the game is over. This game is more about listening for understanding and empathy than speaking!
We have room for 30 people for the June 25 Story Stitch at Path of Grace: Deepening our Connections with Neighbors event. Please sign up by Sunday, June 21 so that we can plan for food and the game. We look forward to sharing this exciting and meaningful experience with you! Sign up is available at the Welcome Center or online at
