Painting with a Purpose: A Foundation in Oil with Aaron Smith

This course introduces students to traditional oil painting methods through a practical, step-by-step approach. We’ll cover core concepts like composition, under-painting, color mixing, layering, and value control — all aimed at helping each student complete one finished painting by the end of the six-week session. The course is designed for adults who want more than a recreational experience and are looking for a grounded start in serious painting. Students will work from one of several pre-selected reference images, ensuring they can complete their piece on time while learning transferable skills.
