It's time for our next farm tour and potluck at Farm Among Us in Preston on June 9th from 6-8pm! Farmer Scott shared this bio with us:
"Hello all! I’m Scott Ridout, and I have been married to my farm advisor, Susan, for nearly 41 years. I'm a grandpa and obsessed with growing food. After a 31-year career as a UPS delivery driver, May 2021 kicked off my dream to have a small market garden farm, Farm Among Us. Growing on ⅓ acre in Issaquah, using low tillage natural practices to grow vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, microgreens, cut flowers, and some fruits. The land used for growing comprises 4 plots, 3 of which are on neighboring borrowed land.
Starting with farmers’ markets as our main customer, we now primarily provide produce to restaurants in Issaquah, the Snoqualmie Valley, and a roadside farm stand.
Mentors and early inspirational farmers include Eliot Coleman, JM Fortier, Daniel Mays, No Till Podcast with Farmer Jesse, Karl (Stehekin Garden), Ryan (Steelwheel Farm), and Amanda (Fall City Farm). Today, so many Snoqualmie Valley farmers have been added to the wealth of knowledge and experience, generously helping the farm's success.
Hoping fresh eyes touring the farm will offer additional insights and experience, nudging along a successful season.
See y'all soon!"
Parking is limited at the Farm Stand, so please park at Vasa Hall, 10530 324th Place SE, Issaquah, 98027. The farm is on the adjoining property.
Bring yourself and your farm crew. If you cannot bring a potluck item, that's okay, we'd still love to see you there! Please stay home if you are experiencing any COVID-19 or flu symptoms.
