You’re invited to join us at the shop for a day of knitting and crocheting for charity. We’re making small items for four very worthy causes:
Warm Up America
The Seaman’s Center at the Port of Wilmington
Knitted Knockers
Hats and gaiters for local kids who are in need of warm accessories
There will be a handout and free patterns. You may bring a tablet or laptop if you wish to download even more resources. Wi-Fi is available.
Please bring needles, hooks, stitch markers and other tools you might need. Plenty of these items are available for purchase if needed.
Yarn: Each charity has recommendations (or requirements), and our handout will guide you through it. If you have worsted weight (4) yarn in your stash that you’d like to use, please bring it with you. If you don’t have any, no worries! We have plenty in stock and can help you with whatever you need.
We have a great project tote bag available (for just $10) with our Selfless Saturday logo. What a fantastic way to promote selfless knitting and crocheting, and a convenient way to store your supplies!
Knitting for charity offers numerous benefits, including providing warmth and comfort to those in need, raising awareness for important causes, and fostering a sense of community and personal fulfillment. Crafting items like blankets, hats, or scarves for charities can directly impact individuals facing challenging circumstances, while also harnessing our empathy and enhancing in person social connection.
We hope you’ll join in for this fun and gratifying event as we make things for people we don’t know!
