The Heist Ceilidh

The dancing we do is called many things in different places; Ceilidh, Country Dance, Barn Dance, Ceili Dance, Square Dance, Set Dancing – we take inspiration from Klezmer, Scottish, Irish and English Music. It’s a blast!

The Heist Ceilidh Band will be live on stage to provide the music, and a “Dance Caller”, will talk you through all the simple and fun moves. First we learn the dance by walking through it with the caller, then the band strike up, and we dance to the music. You don’t need any experience, just willingness to have a go.

We like to lean into the chaos of the dancing, if you know what you’re doing at every moment, it’s not a proper ceilidh… Expect some of the old classics but also some dances you’ve not seen before!
