Can't tell a buttercup from a celandine? Or, know absolutely loads? This walk and talk with the knowledgeable Gerry Firkins is for you.
You'll be amazed by the richness of plants, flowers and trees in Endcliffe Park. There's so much to learn about the green stuff at our feet and overhead. Many surprises about their survival strategies, folklore and what is already happening with climate change, etc.
Our beautiful Porter Valley is suffering from erosion, depletion of the native ancient woodland flora and invasive species like cherry laurel and himalayan balsam. Are there ways to help?
Gerry is a local botanist who has led field meetings and taught plant identification for Sheffield University, WEA and the RSPB since the 1980s and is now a tutor for the Botanical Society of the British Isles.
All welcome. Some uneven paths and slippy surfaces. Wear appropriate footwear.
Tickets are free, but if you could make a small donation to the local Green Party on the day, this would be greatly appreciated.
