The Trees Are Speaking: With Lynda Mapes

Join us for a special evening with acclaimed author and journalist Lynda Mapes at the Dungeness River Nature Center on Saturday, August 2 at 7:00 PM.

Lynda will discuss her new book, The Trees Are Speaking: Dispatches from the Salmon Forests, joined in conversation by river scientist Dr. Tim Abbe and Vanessa Castle, cultural conservation science coordinator at Panthera.

Together, they’ll explore the vital connections between salmon, forests, rivers, and people and how listening to these natural voices can shape our future.

Lynda Mapes is the author of Elwha: A River Reborn, Orca: Shared Waters, Shared Home, and Breaking Ground: The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and the Unearthing of Tse-whit-zen Village. Her work brings the stories of the Olympic Peninsula to life like no one else.

This free event will take place at the Dungeness River Nature Center inside of Rainshadow Hall and is open to the public.
