Join Clallam County Master Gardener Marylou Ozbolt-Storer for this year's Digging Deeper Saturdays presentation "Designing Fresh Cut Flower Bouquets like a Professional: Making the Most of Your Floral Garden - Preparing and Designing Extraordinary Bouquets.” Marylou will emphasize flower placement techniques to create a classic round (posey) or oblong centerpiece bouquets to help you create numerous bouquet styles.
You will learn the distinction between focal, filler, line and floating flowers, the importance that each plays in the bouquet, and how you can utilize what you have from your garden to make a captivating bouquet. Marylou will go over the basics of cutting from your garden, (the dos, don'ts, whys and why nots), processing your flowers and tips and tricks for extending their vase life.
Did you know that tulips grow up to 2" after you cut them and once you put them into a bouquet? How do you deal with that design phenomenon? These and many more notable bits of information will be shared.
Marylou will demonstrate arranging techniques as well as supervise hands-on learning in which each person will be given a container, taught how to “green it up,” and then create a bouquet to take home. “I, with the help of a couple of elves, will be roving to answer questions during your creative time. Also, I will share some florist tricks used to extend weeks of life to your peonies and days to your dahlias,” said Marylou. There will be a few samples showing the variations on the theme that you can use for inspiration.
Please bring a pair of shears for cutting, or a knife and prepare to go home with confidence that you can pick from your garden and make a beautiful bouquet!
