ENCOURAGEMENTS
* Participate in the lesson preceding the social dance, as it 1) warms up our dancer bodies and minds, 2) connects us with multiple other dancers and as a cohesive, collective whole, and 3) gives us new vocabulary for more creative and attuned dances. This is how our dance scene continues to root and blossom!

* Dressy attire - whatever that means for you! Let's celebrate!

* Bring dancing shoes, whatever is comfortable for you (though smoother soles are best)! The Barn is an unfinished wood floor, so there is a risk to get a splinter in a bare foot or tear in a sock - and even still, people still choose to do that, sometimes.

CLASS: "The Hidden Architecture of All Partner Dances"
In this class, we'll aim to 1) simplify the partner dance connection, while also making it 2) more dynamic. We’ll explore the question: “What are WE doing in this dance, right now?”; using it as a foundation for what to do next, and how we can do that in sync with our dancing partner and the music. The over-arching concept is called “Modes” and it helps us understand something we already do in any partner dance, but we’ll bring it into our awareness and we’ll be switching between them at choice. The foundation of this material comes from a week-long Fusion Teacher Training with Flouer Evelyn and Mark Carpenter (who taught this concept originally from Brenda Russell), and is reduced into just a 1-hour class - so, try to be on time!


CLASS FACILITATOR BIO:
Eric Spiegel (he/him) is in service of Music, and dedicated to honoring her through improvisation and collaboration. Eric goes to weekends of immersion in individual creative practices and strives to bring the harvest back to his home community. To further foster more of these practices locally, Eric offers his energy as a community connector, facilitator and event organizer for Pulse Partner Dance, Sebastopol Contact Improv, CircleSing Sebastopol and VocaLab.


DJ BIO:
As a co-creator of the PULSE Partner Dance, and previous organizer for North Bay Fusion, Elliot Katz (aka DJ SyStemic) has a natural passion for curating evocative soundscapes for dynamic partner dance experiences. He strives to weave the melodic with the syncopated, the acoustic with the electronic, with playful and sensual connection at its core.

We’re honored to be hosted by Green Valley Village, where our dance floor is located in a beautiful converted barn, surrounded by redwoods and that magical West County feel! We also love our partnership with Soft Medicine in downtown Sebastopol where we come together in their beautiful upstairs Dance Temple. We are based out of Sebastopol, CA and aim to connect partner dancers in Sonoma County, CA and beyond.
