Luncheon: How Theater Artistic Directors are Navigating Cultural and Funding Challenges

Some arts and cultural organizations across Florida are in for a financial windfall in this year’s state budget, but hundreds of others will likely see no support for the second year in a row. Arts critic Jay Handelman will lead a panel of leading artistic directors in a discussion of how they are meeting the challenge of providing funds for their organizations.

Nate Jacobs, founder and artistic director of Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe

Carole Kleinberg, artistic director of Sarasota Jewish Theatre

Peter Rothstein, producing artistic director of Asolo Repertory Theatre

Summer Wallace, producing artistic director of Urbanite Theatre

Jay Handelman spent more than 40 years as an editor, theater critic and arts editor for the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He reviewed most performances throughout Southwest Florida and covered the business of the arts in the region.
