Baroque Voices: Black and Brown Composers of Latin America

Embark on a musical voyage with Musica Spei and lutenist Pedro Sperb as they explore the rarely heard compositions of Black and Brown composers from 17th- and 18th-century Central and South America. Hailing from Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala, and other nations, these composers artfully intertwined European Renaissance and Baroque styles with the unique musical traditions of their cultures. From celebratory melodies to deeply felt expressions, this performance promises a captivating journey through a rich and often overlooked musical heritage.
