Bugs in The Garden: The Good, The Bad, and The Beneficial
Come learn about bugs and their roles in our gardens! This workshop is for families with children as well as the urban gardener.

About this Event

Welcome to Bugs in The Garden: The Good, The Bad, and The Beneficial! Join us for an exciting event where we explore the world of bugs in our food forests, gardens, and environment. From creepy crawlies to helpful pollinators, we'll delve into the benefits of balanced ecosystems. The event will be held at FARMily, in Katie's Garden located at 1340 Foster Dr, so mark your calendars and get ready to learn all about bugs and their impact on our world, in general, and our gardens, more specifically. Don't miss out on this educational and fun experience!


Families with children are encouraged to attend the morning sessions for interactive learning with a Kidz and Bugz program. (10:00 AM to 11:30 AM) Registration will begin at 9:30 AM.


We will dive deeper in the afternoon with information for backyard gardeners and urban farmers on Managing Garden Pests and Attracting Beneficial Insects to Your Garden. (12:30 PM to 2:30 PM). Registration will begin at 12:00 PM.


Snacks and water will be provided. Please bring your own refillable water bottle, a sun hat, and sunscreen. We will be inside and outside for both sessions.

Info: Learn how to identify all the bugs we see (and don't see) underfoot and in our gardens. Then we will go outside and check out the garden. Let's see if we can spy some cool bugs! We will end our session with a special presentation of Life in the Undergrowth!

Info: Learn about insects that have real benefits in our gardens and how to attract them to your vegetable and flower gardens.
