Derek Williams, co-owner and dog trainer at Animal House Pet Resort, Swatara/Shovel Lake. A lifelong animal lover who turned his passion for animals into a rewarding career. He and his wife (Stacy) opened the pet boarding kennel in 2018. In 2024, Derek studied at a professional dog training academy in Missouri, coming away with a passion for strengthening the bond between dogs and their people while also building confidence in the dog.
This class is geared toward helping you learn how to train your puppy.
We will work on sit, down, come, place and heel with a graduation celebration at the end of the session. Each dog must have up to date vaccinations including rabies, distempers and Bordetella. Please email vaccination records to

Required for the class is one of the following: chain style “choke’ training collar, a slip lead, or a Herm Sprenger prong collar plus a 6-foot leash. If you would like help deciding which is best for your pup, please email me. Also, please bring bags to pick up your dog’s waste. We don't want to leave a mess on the school property
