DOG OBEDIENCE CLASS:
5 months and older
Derek Williams, co-owner and dog trainer at Animal House Pet Resort, Swatara/Shovel Lake. A lifelong animal lover who turned his passion for animals into a rewarding career. He and his wife (Stacy) opened the pet boarding kennel in 2018. In 2024, Derek studied at a professional dog training academy in Missouri, coming away with a passion for strengthening the bond between dogs and their people while also building confidence in the dog.
This class is geared toward helping you learn how to train your dog. We will work on sit, down, come, place, and heel with a graduation celebration at the end of the session. Each dog must have up-to-date vaccinations including rabies, distemper and Bordetella. Please email vaccination records to

Required for the class is one of the following: chain style “choke’ training collar, a slip lead, or a Herm Sprenger prong collar plus a 6-foot leash. If you would like help deciding which is best for your pup, please reach out to me via email. Also, please bring bags to pick up your dog’s waste. We do not want to leave a mess on the school property
